Protea Hotel Saldanha Bay reopens following winter refurbishment | The Planner

Protea Hotel Saldanha Bay has reopened following a winter refurbishment that is breathing new life into the public areas and bedrooms.

All the public areas and a large block of rooms has already opened, with more rooms to be released in the next couple of weeks, says hotel GM Berneace Nel, who commented that the modernised rooms were cool and tranquil; a picture perfect setting for the waterside location.

“The hotel will be handed back to us entirely by 15 October, just in time for start of summer.”

Protea Hotel Saldanha Bay was one of the first properties to have joined the 29-year-old Protea Hospitality Group.

Two more rooms have been added, bringing to 60 the total number of rooms and suites available from October.

The make-over has introduced a tranquil colour palette that creates a cool, relaxing atmosphere.

The rooms have been modernised with flat screen TVs, electronic door locks, mini-bar fridges, new floor surfaces and carpets. The hotel’s generous conference facilities have also been part of the refurbishment process.

The hotel is owned by the Saldanha Group and it has been in the Silverman family for approximately 90 years.

Protea Hospitality Group Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue, Danny Bryer, says the makeover is creating an even more attractive hotel for the thousands of domestic and international travellers who pass through the doors each year.

“The hotel in its prime waterfront position on the West Coast is also a firm favourite among corporate companies as well as Professional Conference Organisers arranging conferences and team-building events.

“It is one of more than a dozen Protea Hotels that have been refurbished to the highest standard in the past year.

“We look forward to seeing the hotel’s refurbishment completed. It is the perfect location for both work and play away from the big city lights.”
