Nasrin Hoosen, has been appointed as Sandton Convention Centre’s International Sales Manager. Says SCC General Manager, Shaun Bird of her appointment: “This dynamic woman brings her own brand of wisdom to the role and believes that the meetings industry is one of the key drivers of development in the business tourism sector and has the capacity to bring important business opportunities, knowledge sharing, and economic growth to the broader economy. We are looking forward to Nasrin taking our international sales to new heights.”
Nasrin is positive about the industry and enthusiastic about her new role at Sandton Convention Centre: “My approach to my new role at the SCC will involve working with internal and external stakeholders to develop international business for the SCC, to the benefit of the greater metropolitan area.I intend to work closely with local tourism associations and convention bureaus to bring international conferences to Sandton.”
Nasrin is an avid follower of industry trends and developments, she loves international travel, and she is thriving in the MICE industry. She is hooked by the never-ending challenge of selling space and is by her own admission, always looking for better ways to prospect, engage people, overcome obstacles, and beat tough competitors. Every day is an adventure in her diary!
Her credo in life can be summed up in the quote by American writer, Orison SwettMarden, who said: “Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.”
Nasrin gives much credit to the SCC team for her achievements. “I am very aware of the contribution that so many have made in my working life here at SCC – from the car guard to the operations team, the events team, the sales and marketing team, and senior management. Their patience and the knowledge they’ve shared over the years is very valuable, and much appreciated.”
