Randpark Golf Club to host the SA Open | The Planner

The City of Johannesburg, The Sunshine Tour, The European Tour and The Asian Tour are pleased to announce that Randpark Club has been selected as the venue to host the prestigious SA and Joburg Open 2018/2019 to be held 6 – 9 December. This event will be hosted at Randpark for the next 3 years as the The Joburg Open and SA Open have merged.

The SA Open, (South African Open Championship), established in 1903, is one of the oldest National Championships in the world, and one of the principal tournaments on the Sunshine Tour. This event has been sanctioned by the European Tour since 1997. The Sunshine Tour is not only played in South Africa but also in 5 other countries: Mauritius, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Randpark Club is honored to host the SA and Joburg Open 2018/2019 Championship. Randpark has consistently embodied fair play and sportsmanship amongst other principles employed by the Sunshine Tour and the Joburg Open 2018. We are confident in our ability to host an outstanding event,”said Francois Swart, General Manager. “Our two courses, Bushwillow and Firethorn rate amongst the best courses in South Africa and this affords the competitors the opportunity to have variety in play prior to making the cut”added Swart.

These well-manicured championship golf courses are very different from each other. Bushwillow is the older of the two, with beautiful well-established trees, a tight layout and small greens. Firethorn is modern with a long layout, both challenging the players and offers golfers of varying abilities an unforgettable experience.

“Hosting this most prestige’s tournament – The SA and Joburg Open, at Randpark Club is a privilege. There will be 240 players competing this year. My team and I look forward to welcoming our local and international players and guests”,concluded Swart.
