The five-star Boardwalk Hotel, Convention Centre and Spa has won a prestigious Lilizela Tourism Award for excellence in the five-star accommodation category in this year’s Lilizela Tourism Awards programme. The award was presented to the hotel’s general manager, Ayanda Kgwathe, at the Eastern Cape provincial awards ceremony at The Boardwalk ICC.
Launched in 2013, the Lilizela Tourism Awards are recognised as South Africa’s premier travel and tourism awards, acknowledging and celebrating tourism businesses for service excellence, their contribution to South Africa’s global competitiveness, and for growing tourism’s contribution towards GDP and job creation.
Of the entries received for the 2015 awards programme, a total of 954 entries met the entry requirements. The Boardwalk Hotel was one of 570 finalists from across the country selected to receive awards at provincial awards ceremonies taking place throughout September – South African Tourism Month. The national awards ceremony will take place on 22 October 2015 in Johannesburg.
